Gender-responsive intervention in the traditional onion value chain in Postribe community
GENDER-RESPONSIVE
INTERVENTION IN
IN THE TRADITIONAL
ONION VALUE CHAIN
IN POSTRIBE
COMMUNITY

GENERAL INFORMATION:

PROJECT BACKGROUND
Despite making a significant contribution to the agricultural sector, rural women living in Northern Albania are often invisible actors, forced to operate informally, without rights, burdened by the domestic work and in a strongly patriarchal cultural context.
The project acts for empowering a group of rural women from the remote Postribe community by enhancing their traditional role in the onion value chain and providing access to knowledge, productive resources and leadership opportunities.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

GOAL
The project aims to empower women in the onion value chain by enhancing their access to knowledge, productive resources and leadership opportunities.
The intervention will improve productivity and quality through GAPs, strengthen post-harvest infrastructure and market access, introduce gender-sensitive tools and mechanization, ultimately enabling them to become empowered economic actors within their communities.
