PROJECT BACKGROUND
For over 15 years, RTM has turned its attention to the problems of the Palestinian population, especially in the socio-educational field. In the framework of this long path of friendship and closeness, we started and consolidated over time a collaboration with the schools of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and other religious and non-religious actors involved in the educational sector.
The context
The Patriarchate’s schools were created when it was re-established in 1847, as a way to reach Christian families in different towns and villages. Even today, by participating in the education of children, the Latin Church is present in the Christian communities on a daily basis, and the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has become an important actor that promotes the interests and well-being of local communities in the educational sector.
The LPJ schools are open to children, students, and families from all religious communities. Latin schools seek to provide quality education to local communities, regardless of the religious affiliation of the families who decide to entrust them with their children’s education.

ACTIVITIES
- Training of school staff
Two-year on-site training course for teachers and management of the 4 beneficiary schools; ongoing pedagogical advice and monitoring of the 4 beneficiary schools. The training’s educational approach is based on the image of a child and, in general, of a human being with strong potential for development and a subject of rights who learns and grows in relationships with others.
- Redevelopment of the school environments of the 4 beneficiary schools
Interventions for the requalification of internal and external educational environments in order to make them suitable for children; supply of IT and digital equipment, furniture, and school materials.
Priority is given to the introduction of experiential learning environments (“ateliers”), spaces in which children are offered the opportunity to experiment with multiple materials and languages, promoting the expressiveness and creativity of each child and children in group.
- Participation of families
Printing a kit of awareness-raising materials for families and communities served by the 4 beneficiary schools; organisation of 2 events open to citizenship by each beneficiary school.
The Project thus intends to effectively communicate the new educational services made available to the communities involved and to increase the awareness of the beneficiary families and communities of the benefits of early childhood education
